La Liga Season Preview 2015/16 – Deportivo La Coruna

Deportivo La Coruna

2014/2015 Season – 16th

2015/2016 Prediction – 16th

Key Player – Luisinho

Only 11 years ago, Deportivo were in the last 4 of the Champions League. They eventually fell to a Jose Mourinho Porto side 1-0 over 2 legs. They ended up winning the Copa Del Rey final a few years later beating a Real Madrid side in the final. The Deportivo side included names like Walter Pandiani, Juan Carlos Valeron, Noureddine Naybet, and recent players such as; Fabricio Colicini and Filipe Luis. Their fall from grace has been dramatic and as a result, the side were relegated in 2011.

Although the side managed to retain their La Liga status, they have since few quality additions and it is likely they will struggle again this season. Although the money in La Liga is not as strong as other teams, there are competitors who are hungrier for their share. With their few additions and new hungrier competitors, it is clear that they will struggle this season. Although I predict that once again, they will retain their league status, I do see them struggling again at the pits of La Liga. Key player Luisinho, the left-back has been at Deportivo since joining in 2013 from Benfica. He has established himself as a key member of the La Coruna starting XI, playing more minutes than any of his team-mates last season. He started 34 of the 35 league games he played in last term and has made a total of 66 appearances.
