Tottenham expect to complete the £20m signing of West Brom forward Saido Berahino, this week according to the Sunday Mirror.
Pochettino stated after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Stoke City at White Hart Lane on Saturday that he still needs to sign a striker, despite landing Clinton N’Jie, who prefers to play in an attacking three.
The report claims that Spurs will offer The Baggies a £20million transfer fee with a £100,000-a-week wage packet for the England Under-21 international. Albion are holding out for £25million, while Spurs are reluctant to go over £20million – so it is thought that the gap of £5million could be made up in add-ons.
Both clubs drew at the weekend leaving supporters disgruntled with Spurs throwing away a 2-0 lead in the final 10 minutes at home to Stoke and West Brom failing to get a shot on target away to Watford.
Spurs have already seen Roberto Soldado depart back to his homeland after signing for Villarreal, and they just need to get Emmanuel Adebayor off the wage bill – but that will prove more difficult.
Pulis has however said he wants to work with Saido, the youngster needs guidance in the opinion of the Welshman but with Solomon Rondon already arriving in B71 and Rickie Lambert now a feature the opportunity for Berahino to leave the club he joined at just 10-years-old has never been greater.
