After cementing his feet quite comfortably in the Championship last year, Andre Gray netted 18 goals in all competitions making him one of the leagues top scorers. As always in the football league, as soon as an upcoming talent sprouts through the works, bigger clubs come knocking on the door.
So far this summer, the Brentford striker has been the center of attention for several Championship clubs, reportedly having completed a medical at Hull City and agreeing personal terms yet declining Bristol City. However, one team look set to finally land the 24 year old. It’s come fresh out the press today that Brentford have accepted an astonishing £9million bid from Burnley, who are almost guaranteed to sign the tricky forward after he was pictured outside Turf Moor with a fan. The Clarets have already signed 3 strikers this summer with Rouwen Hennings, Chris Long and Jelle Vossen all arriving in Lancashire. It’s highly transparent Sean Dyche has been interested ever since Hull came sniffing, a fellow promotion rival of theirs. Oddly, Brentford accepted the same bid from all 3 teams yet Gray has predominantly chosen Burnley, over Hull & Bristol City. Until he officially puts pen to paper, we can only wait and contemplate reasons as to why he’s opted for the claret and blue of Burnley, instead of the orange or Hull or Red of Bristol City.
With the announcement looking likely to happen by the end of this week, Steve Bruce & Cotterill will be eagerly waiting to find out where it went wrong. From a personal perspective, Sean Dyche’s tender demeanor and great man management could well be the reason as to why Gray has plumped for a move up north to Lancashire.
