Lionel Messi has been ruled out of action for the next seven to eight weeks after tearing a ligament in his left knee during Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Las Palmas on Saturday.
The unfortunate incident happened in the 3rd minute, before he was rushed off to hospital after being replaced. Messi may miss their next eight fixtures, but has a possibility of returning for the El Clasico clash on 22nd November.
“I’m always sad when one of our players gets injured and even more so when it’s Messi. We will not change our style of play without Messi, although there are many moments within games in which Messi liberates us and finds solutions for us, so we’ll have to strengthen in other areas and the team will have to step up without him” coach Luis Enrique said.
With this unfortunate injury for Messi, Barcelona are now only left with two players that ca play up top in their front three. These such players are Neymar and Luis Suarez. Now things are looking like a mistake after letting Adama Traore, Alexis Sanchez and Pedro all leave in the past 2 seasons. Are Barcelona really in striker crisis after one injury? Can Neymar and Suarez lead the line? Only time will tell.
