The transfer season has led to a sea of rumours surrounding the top clubs in Europe. Despite being a useful addition for clubs in dire need of some new signings, the January transfer window is widely seen as a distraction to players and one that managers wish they could avoid.
One player who’s been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga has been . The talented young playmaker scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, since that moment he has struggled to really prosper for Bayern Munich.
After playing four games this season through injury and a lack of trust from Pep Guardiola it’s clear something isn’t clicking between the German Superpower and the playmaker. With Gotze turning 24 this year is his chance to become a world class footballer could be running out?
Klopp reunion possible?
The German has been linked with a £32.7 million pound move to Liverpool and a reunion with former boss Jürgen Klopp who made him the player he is today. Moreover, Gotze was quoted as admitting he is “open” to a move away from the German outfit.
In Gotze’s words “We will just have to wait and see how things pan out. I have not really given my future much thought recently because of my injury, but everything is open as things stand. It all depends on the plans of the club and the new coach.”
However, with Carlo Ancelotti coming in at the end of the season to replace Guardiola the chances are he will want to give Ancelotti time to show that he is a part of his plans and see how next season pans out, thus making a move away from the Allianz Arena all the more unlikely.
Bayern sporting director has also been quick to rubbish reports suggesting the Gotze rumour is “nonsense”. “Every day new nonsense comes along, that is all I am going to say on this.”
Despite some strong links with Jurgen Klopp and a new start for Gotze it seems doubtful the World Cup hero will be making the leap to the Premier League anytime soon.
