Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy has joined Bordeaux on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Frenchman has had limited game time since his return from injury and with tough competition in Hector Bellerin, he has been forced to get minutes under his belt elsewhere, especially if he wants to be a part of his home nations squad at Euro 2016.
Bordeaux made a late swoop to fight off other competition from Premier League clubs, which was where Debuchy said he would prefer to go, and the deal was done very quickly with the Ligue 1 side.
Manchester United reportedly had a loan bid turned down for him after Arsene Wenger said he wanted to Frenchman to play more regular football and felt he wouldn’t get that under Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Arsenal released a statement on their website: “Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mathieu well for his time with the Girondins.”
