Preston are 10th in the Championship. How can Simon Grayson’s side fight their way up the table?

Preston can move up the table by continuing to do what they are doing. In all fairness they had a bad result away to Cardiff but that is a tough place to go. We need to make sure we pick up wins instead of draws for the remaining games and keep chipping away which will allow us to move up the league.

The Whites have a number of experienced players such as Anders Lindegaard, Jermaine Beckford and Chris Kirkland in their squad. How does this benefit the team?

The experienced players will benefit the squad for sure as when players look around and see the talent the side has it’s very good and that’s a big, big thing! I used to look around and see nothing but talent and when I was there we had Eddie Lewis, David Healy, Ricardo Fuller, Sean Gregan and the list continues. You knew they would pull some things out of games for you, guaranteed!

As well as experienced players in their ranks, Preston North End have a number of high quality youngsters such as Stevie May and Ben Pearson. How bright is the club’s future?

The club’s future is mighty bright, there are many good young players around and hopefully I can add to that by bringing the very good young players from Ireland through. I’ve got a few very good players at the moment and I’m waiting for Preston to get back to me.

You left the club in 2004, how much has the side developed in 12 years?

We have developed since I was there, as basically you need different players for different years. We had a smashing squad in all fairness. I really like PNE’s defending at the moment but would like to see us attacking that bit more with flare. We need to look to add players with more pace. Joe Garner works his socks off and I like him a lot. I like hard workers and awkward players to play against and he is one of them for sure.

Would you ever like to see David Moyes return to the club?

I’d say yes to a David Moyes return for sure. He was the brightest young manager I have ever seen in my life. He works so hard and his methods are top class, he is a gent and you know what you have to do for a legend like him without him saying. You just have to look deep into his eyes. It’s my dream to work with him one day in the future. The man is a God to me to be honest! He is my idol and a true legend. Moyes is a top, top man and his qualities are unique. He is one of the most impressive men I’ve come across, he’s just a winner full stop, that explains why he is a God!
