Last season provided many twists and turns around the globe in which many players shone. Today, I will be showing you five players who could make a serious impression of themselves at this summer’s European Championships.
1. Antoine Greizmann
Antoine Greizmann is a 25-year-old French striker who currently plays for Atlético Madrid. The talented forward notched up a very impressive 32 goals in 54 appearances for the Spanish giants this past season. Not only that, but he has been highly regarded as one of the hottest strikers in the footballing world, and some even rank him up with the best players out there today. Griezmann has spent his full senior career in Spain so far, but there have been many reports linking him with a move away from the former champions of Spain. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and even Manchester City have all been reported to have interest in his talent, so he is certainly one to keep an eye on this summer.
2. Yannick Carrasco
Carrasco can play on either wing, he has flair and the ability to take any player on, and he also has bags of potential. This young 22-year-old is yet another hot prospect who could make a name for himself on the market this summer, as he will look to impress after some solid showings for Atlético this season. The young Belgian winger made a substitute appearance in the Champions League final last Saturday and showed the amazing technique and skill he has in his locker with some of his slick dribbling skills and dangerous crosses. He also managed to bag himself a goal, and despite it not being enough to help his side win the match, he certainly impressed everyone who had eyes focused on the field.
3. Dimitri Payet
There are so many words to describe the season Payet has had for West Ham that we could go on forever. The French playmaker impressed not only England but the whole world as he set the Premier League alight with some of his fancy tricks, extravagant passes and mouth watering free kicks. Payet was involved in at least 24 of West Ham’s goals this season, scoring and assisting 12 each. Payet’s incredible performances this season helped get himself a place in the France squad for the upcoming European Championships, and it is no surprise that everyone is full of praise and excitement, especially the West Ham fan base.
4. Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford has only been around since the latter stages of the 2015-16 Premier League season, but in that time he has massively impressed many pundits and fans across Europe. He made his Manchester United debut at last minute notice and still popped up with two goals in their Europa League win over FC Midtjylland, before impressing with another two goals on his Premier League debut against Arsenal just a few days later. Since then he has managed to push himself into thei Manchester United first team and help them reach fifth spot with a very impressive eight goals. It may not seem much but when you consider that he is only 18 years old you have to give him praise. Not only has he contributed with those goals for the Red Devils, but he gained himself an England call up to face Australia, where he then banged in a debut goal after just three minutes. In the past week he has also won the FA Cup, penned a new contract until 2020 with Jose Mourinho, and even got himself into the 23-man squad for this summer’s Euros. He has been compared to showing flashes of Michael Owen back in the early stages of his career, so he could well be a gem.
5. Paul Pogba
This lad has bags of potential in him and he is already one of the world’s best talents. He has multiple achievements to his name, including four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, and he has even been included in the FIFA World XI. Not only that but Juventus have stated that he is for sale for nothing less than £70million, with interest from some of Europe’s elite very high. This summer Pogba could add the European Championship to his trophy cabinet, and where else to do it but in his home nation, France! I highly believe that Pogba will be one of the main reasons for any success France have this summer, and even if he does stay with Juve for another season it will certainly increase attention on him from across the globe.
