With the group stages finished, I look at potential winners of the Euro 2016. The tournament hosts France are favourites with a lot people, as they have a lot of depth and quality in their squad.

One of their key men is Dmitri Payet, he is one of many players who have arrived at the tournament full of confidence after having a sensational season with West Ham United in the Premier league, scoring nine goals and assisting twelve in total.

Another potential Euro winner is Germany having won the World Cup in Brazil 2014, but in their friendlies before the tournament, Germany lost 3 out of 4 games, meaning that may thought that they would go into the competition short of confidence.

There were mixed emotions for Germany coming into the tournament but one of the key players for them, who they can always rely on is Thomas Müller, he can play in a various positions in the forward line but is mainly used in the number ten role.

The current European champions Spain, are also amongst the main contenders to win the tournament. But many believe they won’t be victorious, as they are lacking in the forward line as their recognised striker, Álvaro Morata, isn’t as capable compared to four years ago in Ukraine and Poland, as back then they had Fernando Torres and David Villa, who were both at their best during that tournament.

My personal opinion of who will win the tournament is Germany because they did it two years ago at the World Cup, so there is no reason why they can’t do it again with just a slightly different squad.

The odds from William Hill for who will win Euro 2016 are as follows:

Germany 7/2 (Favourites)

France 9/2

Spain 6/1
