Norwich City transfer window preview

Well, if Norwich City weren’t a yo-yo club before they certainly are now. In this transfer window they have already lost one of their prized assets in young winger Nathan Redmond so in this article I will be looking at how Norwich should be going about their business during the summer transfer window.

Who should depart Norwich?

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel- The Dutch striker only scored one goal during his debut season at Norwich and it’s fair to say the move never really worked for RVW or Norwich, Ricky has been sent out on loan for two seasons in a row while only scoring 6 goals during those loan spells.

Sebastian Bassong- The Cameroonian international is ever so inconsistent at the back and not quite the leader a captain should be, I feel the money from the transfer could be influential to Norwich’s transfer window.

Kyle Lafferty- The Northern Ireland international has never really broke through into the Norwich team and it would be a move that benefits both parties.

Michael Turner- The veteran 6’4″defender may see his time at Carrow Road come to an end with the 33 year old linked with a move away.

Tony Andreu- The Frenchman simply doesn’t have enough quality for the Premier League and with promotion being Norwich’s aim once more they should look to offload the 28 year old.

Who should Norwich bring in?

Britt Assombalonga- The 23 year old striker has been out for around a year with a knee injury after he took a shot against Wigan Athletic, Britt is a pacey natural born goal scorer who would been an excellent purchase for Norwich and would add some much needed pace into the championship’s side.

Henri Lansbury- The Nottingham Forest captain has reportedly snubbed a new deal at the City ground, Lansbury would add much needed leadership and passion into the Canaries team and wouldn’t take a massive chunk out of the transfer budget.

Tom Lees- The centre half has excelled in his last two seasons at Hillsborough with Wednesday narrowly missing out on promotion last season, Lees would be a massive coup for Norwich adding a rock at the back with championship experience.

Sergi Canos- Canos looks likely to join Norwich after the canaries have had a bid accepted for around £2.5 million for the Liverpool winger, the former Barcelona youth player and Spain under-19 international looks set to replace Nathan Redmond who joined Southampton following the canaries relegation. Canos does have championship experience after spending last season with Brentford.

Who might breakthrough?

Following Norwich’s disastrous season ending in yet another relegation, the championship will offer more chances for some of Norwich’s younger prospects, now I will be looking at a few of those prospects that may just breakthrough.

Josh Murphy- The winger has spent time out on loan with Wigan Athletic and Milton Keynes Dons and has also represented England at under-18, under-19 and under-20 level.

Jacob Murphy- Much like his twin brother Josh Murphy, Jacob has spent time out on loan with Colchester and Coventry City respectively scoring 9 goals in 40 appearances whilst at the Ricoh arena.

James Maddison- The attacking midfielder joined Norwich during the January transfer window only to spend the rest of the season with Coventry City where his side narrowly missed out on promotion from Sky Bet League One.

Norwich fans are in for an interesting summer and season as the rebuild at Carrow Road begins as the canaries try to work their way back to the Premier League.
