Wes Hoolahan has signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until at least 2018.
The Republic of Ireland international has racked up 285 competitive appearances for the Canaries to date (Source: Canaries.co.uk) Assuming Hoolahan sees out the remainder of his new contract he would have pledged 10 years of service to the Norfolk side after signing from Blackpool in 2008.
Despite his age, Hoolahan, still remains a crucial player for Norwich City, with recent evidence being his 3 sublime goals in pre-season. One was a strike from outside the area against Coventry, while the other two were nice individual efforts which came against German side Hannover.
But let’s not forget his excellent display in the Euros just gone, where not only did he score a crucial goal in the group stages against Sweeden, but he played a lovely a ball to fellow Norwich City team-mate Robbie Brady in their crucial last group game against Italy which ultimately saw them qualify for the round of 16.
His vision to pick out a pass and ability to interrupt play is desirable, and essentially if he continues the form he has shown from the Euros and in pre-season, this could well be one of his better seasons, if not his best in yellow and green.
As part of the announcement, the club hinted towards a testimonial for their longest-serving player in the current squad. This will certainly please most fans who feel that Wes Hoolahan has been a fantastic servant to the club over the years.
