Norwich have signed Alex Pritchard & Paul Jones, whilst McCormack joins Aston Villa.
This morning saw a flurry of transfer deals being announced within a matter of minutes. The McCormack to Aston Villa was the first deal to get over the line this morning. McCormack who looked set to be heading to Norfolk earlier in the week has instead joined fellow relegated rivals Aston Villa.
Villa are thought to have captured the Scottish international for a fee thought to be in the region of £12 million, with wages thought to be around the £45k a week mark, according to various Twitter accounts. This was reportedly Norwich’s stumbling block in securing last season’s second highest scoring player in the Championship.
Norwich then seemed to turn their intentions to bringing in former Championship team of the year player (2014/15) & Brentford’s players’ player of the year, Alex Pritchard from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee. Brighton did look set to sign the player a few days ago until the Canaries allegedly ‘hijacked’ the deal.
Pritchard, will be a familiar player to some fans, as he shone in the 2014/15 Championship season and was a contributing factor to Brentford managing to reach the Playoffs.
“Alex is an exciting player who is capable of both scoring and creating goals.”- Alex Neil told Canaries.co.uk
Norwich then moments later announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper Paul Jones as a free transfer. Jones, who’s former clubs include Portsmouth, Peterborough United, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient and Exeter City.
“I had a season in the Championship with Peterborough a few years ago, so it’s not a league that’s foreign to me. I’m hoping to add experience to the squad.” – Paul Jones told Canaries.co.uk
So he is a very experienced Football League goalkeeper who Alex Neil will be hoping will add some experience to ensure that the Canaries get promoted again in the first time of asking.
