Since Big Sam was relieved of his duties as England manager, many people are wondering who will be next. So, I decided to ask members of TFF for their opinions on who should get the job. Would they choose Southgate? Howe? Shearer? Someone else?

Got to be Eddie Howe
Young, has top flight experience. The way he has worked at Bournemouth to the top is brilliant and not with the greatest resources either. He’s turned a mediocre Bournemouth team into a respectable Premier League side. He’d be a perfect fit for the England national team.

I personally don’t really know who is the right man to take England forward at the moment. Eddie Howe is a name that’s being suggested but it may be a little bit too soon for him. Realistically I think the FA would struggle lure big names such as Pochettino away from the glamor of domestic football. It may sound odd to some but in my eyes what England could do with is a first team coach rather than a manager to re-establish a new style or identity for how England play. As for me what England has lost in the last few years is its playing identity and how England can win games and ultimately tournaments. So for me whoever does come in needs to bring in a clear strategy for style of play and how we as a nation will approach final stages of tournaments.

I would want Eddie Howe as the manager but moving now would ruin his career if it doesn’t go to plan. I believe the FA will go for Steve Bruce or Alan Pardew, an experienced manager who would demand respect.

Alan Shearer– I’ll have him as manager due to all his experience he’s always wanted to be the next boss now is his chance.

I honestly don’t agree with all the suggestion that the job has to go to an English manager, they say we’ve tried foreign managers in the past and it hasn’t worked, seemingly forgetting all the poor English managers we’ve had too. Look no further than Roy Hodgson. In fact, Sven-Göran Eriksson will go down as one of the better England managers of the last 20 years. English football is at an all-time low right now and what realistic choices are there to help turn things around. The best option, Steve Bruce, has just gone off the market, so are we really going to choose someone like Glenn Hoddle just because he’s English? I hope not, there are many better foreign candidates. My choice would be Laurent Blanc, he was successful at PSG, he knows the English game from his time at Manchester United and he has managed at national level before with France.
