Welcome, a very merry TFFmas from all of us here at the blog. As we head into the holiday season, there is plenty to look forward to both on the pitch and off it and we are looking forward to the month ahead. This December we will be running the 25 Days of TFFmas, every day up until the big day we will be publishing Christmas wishlists from members of our team for what they would like their club to get for Christmas.

We’re down to single figures now, only nine days until Christmas day! If you’re looking for expensive gifts this year, you must be a fan of Manchester City, much like Ben Tipper who told us what he’d like on the big day.

The Club:

Manchester City have struggled this season, with manager Pep Guardiola having to make the transition from managing a group of world class players, to managing a team. Sitting in fourth place (as of the 12/12), City have been poor at home this season only winning three games at the Etihad. Another stat is that they’ve only kept two clean sheets this season, with summer signing Claudio Bravo proving to be the player Guardiola expected Joe Hart to be. Talking of Hart, in a weaker Torino side, he’s kept more clean sheets (3) than Man City this season, something tells me Pep may have made a mistake there.

In other competitions, their form has been mixed. In the Champions League, they came second in their group (behind Barcelona) with 9 points, despite beating Barca at home. The two draws against Celtic proved to be key games, leaving City a disappointing 6 points behind the Spanish side. Their reward for finishing second? A round of 16 tie with Monaco, a team who have scored 39 goals in their last 11 games in all competitions. The EFL Cup didn’t fair well for them either, going out to fierce rivals Manchester United in fourth round of the competition. As for the FA Cup, their thrid round tie sees them travel to the Olympic Stadium to face West Ham on a Friday night, just what the fans wanted when looking for silverware.

Wish 1: Vincent Kompany to return to action (AKA A Christmas Miracle)

“He is our best defender and one of the best in the world, and I wish for him to be injury free, we miss his commanding presence at the back. After his most recent injury, this is looking increasingly unlikely, however, I still have faith that he will come back better than ever, giving strikers a horrible time when they visit the Etihad.”

Wish 2: Sign two new fullbacks

“All four of our full backs (Kolarov, Sagna, Clichy and Zabaleta) are ageing, and we need to bring more youth through who are determined and hungry for success, which will be vital in the long term. With the money we have, I would like us to go for someone like David Alaba or Jose Gaya in order to bring this youth through. Either of these would be quality signings and help strengthen are relatively weak defence.”

Wish 3: Give Kelechi Iheanacho a chance

“When Agüero leaves City, we will miss him greatly, and we will need a player to step up. I wish for Iheanacho to have more game time, so he can develop and become a big game player for us in the future. With Agüero’s recent suspension for the incident against Chelsea, this gives him the perfect chance to step up and make even more of a name for himself. I trust Iheanacho to take this chance and maybe even make Agüero fight for his place back in the team.”
