Arsenal were joint top of the league but defeats against Everton and Manchester City have pushed them down to fourth. With this in mind, here are three players that Arsene Wenger could put into the starting eleven to get Arsenal back to winning ways.

David Ospina

The Colombian international is the second choice goalkeeper at Arsenal. He is better than he was last season and is a fantastic keeper. Ospina started Arsenal’s six Champions League games, keeping two clean sheets and making some spectacular saves. Despite this, he is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

Ospina made four Premier League appearances last season. He has improved since then and should be given a chance. Arsene Wenger is very loyal to his players but sometimes his loyalty has to be compromised for the good of the team. He plays Ospina in the Champions League and Cech in the Premier League but it might be time for an alteration.

Cech is getting older and his inability to save a penalty is an issue. Arsenal have conceded five penalties this season and Cech has not saved any of them. Cech has kept four clean sheets in 17 Premier League appearances. The last clean sheet was in a goalless draw with Middlesbrough in late October.

With the busy festive period approaching, Wenger should give Ospina some games in the Premier League.

Kieran Gibbs

Nacho Monreal is Arsene Wenger’s first choice left-back with 16 appearances this season. Kieran Gibbs on the other hand has made four appearances with three of them coming from the bench. Monreal and Gibbs both have one Premier League assist even though Monreal has started 15 games more.

Gibbs has started all of Arsenal’s EFL Cup games and captained the side in the defeat against Southampton. Monreal was somewhat at fault for Sterling’s goal in the 2-1 defeat against Man City, so some squad rotation from Wenger would be a good idea.

Kieran Gibbs’ best game this season was in the Champions League against Basel. The left-back provided all three assists for Perez’s hat-trick and worked hard for the entire game, getting forward and creating chances for his team-mates. Monreal has been looking tired in recent weeks so Wenger should rest him and let Gibbs start some matches.

Lucas Perez

Arsenal have been in need of a world class striker for years and they still are. Arsene Wenger bought Lucas Perez in the summer but he has used him sparingly so far. The Spaniard has made just one Premier League start and most of his appearances have come in cup competitions. Perez bagged a brace in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest and a hat-trick in the Champions League against Basel.

Alexis Sanchez has been Arsenal’s best player this season, so Giroud and Perez are always on the bench. Even though Alexis wants to play every minute of every game, this is not possible and Wenger will have to rest him at some point. When he does, Perez should be given a chance to shine so that Arsenal fans can see why the club paid £17m for him.
