With French winger Mohamed Chemlal recently signing for Weston-Super-Mare on loan, we have decided to take a look at who the new kid on the block is ahead of their crunch clash with Welling United this coming Saturday!
Mohamed Chemlal is a winger of French descent, who is contracted to Vanarama National League side Forest Green Rovers but is enjoying a spell on loan at Vanarama National League South side Weston-Super-Mare until the end of the season. Chemlal began his career at the Le Havre academy over in France, which has helped produce players such as Dimitri Payet and Lassana Diarra. Chemlal even represented his country at youth level alongside the likes of Anthony Martial, the loan signing of Chemlal certainly got Weston-Super-Mare fans excited last month.
Chemlal moved to England in the summer of 2016 where he became a part of the FGR first team after signing a one-year deal. The 22-year-old made his competitive FGR debut on the opening day of the season against Boreham Wood and was mainly used during the opening month of their season, netting his first league goal for the Gloucester side at home to Southport on the 29th August. The wing wizard then found himself on the fringes of the first team over the last few months under FGR boss Mark Cooper. He now finds himself down at The Woodspring spending a stint on loan under FGR’s Academy Director and Weston manager Scott Bartlett.
Spell At The Seagulls So Far
The youngster is still yet to make his home debut for the Seagulls after their last two games at the Woodspring Stadium have been called off. However, the travelling Weston fans have witnessed their new man in action twice, on the road at Whitehawk and Poole Town and, it is safe to say, he has started impressively, albeit getting no goals or assists so far. The winger uses his silky skills to breeze past opposing defenders, with an array of stepovers and roulettes having been on show in Weston’s black and white so far. Chemlal is looking the real deal for Weston as they look to solidify their spot in mid table and creep away from the relegation zone, he is a player that Weston and FGR will look to develop in the right way to help him to fulfil his potential.
