Claudio Ranieri’s Departure.

As we all know by now, Leicester City have stunned the world recently with all the amazing things they have achieved. Some of these things involve winning the league, Ranieri winning Manager of the Year, attacker Riyad Mahrez winning PFA Player of the Year and even reaching the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. What happened next, however, nobody was expecting.

On the 23rd of February, a few rumours were starting to appear and float around on the internet linked to Claudio Ranieri getting sacked. There were tweets upon tweets, posts upon posts about how this could not be true but then a mere 30 minutes later, the official Leicester City Twitter account sent out a tweet confirming the rumours.

Internet Meltdown.

The country soon went into an internet meltdown with over 300,000 tweets about the Italian sent in just a couple of hours. When asked, Leicester fan Joe said, “I think they are stupid to sack him, he was great. Ranieri made our dream come true, better than what anyone else could have done.”. On the other hand, however, a small handful of Leicester fans are agreeing with the board’s decisions. One fan said, “It’s a good thing Leicester have sacked Ranieri, they were never going to turn things round.” Therefore, we can see that opinion is still very split on the decision and we can expect a big reaction in Leicester’s home match against Liverpool on Monday.

Leicester are currently sitting in the relegation zone in 18th place alongside Hull City and Sunderland. The reigning champions still have the second leg of their Champions league clash as well to focus on. The first leg ended in a 2-1 defeat in Seville. At the moment, Champions League will be the last thing on their minds.
