West Bromwich Albion host Arsenal in the early kick off on Saturday. Tony Pulis’ side need a win to prove that they have not already given up on the season after two consecutive defeats. Arsenal simply cannot afford to lose if they want to claim their regular place in the top four.
West Brom are currently eighth in the Premier League table after a very impressive season. They have won 11 times having played 28 matches which is one more than they managed in 38 attempts last season. Since reaching 40 points, the Baggies appear to have taken their foot off the gas. But, despite a recent dip in form, a top-half finish and a record breaking 50 points is still a realistic aim.
Arsenal slipped out of the top four after a defeat against Liverpool where Alexis Sanchez was left on the bench for the first half. The Gunners must win this game to give them a much needed boost and restore some belief.
West Brom midfielder James Morrison has an ankle injury and will miss Saturday’s game. Winger Matt Phillips has still not been able to overcome a hamstring injury. He misses out for the fourth consecutive game.
For once, an Arsenal player has made a quick return from an injury. Mohamed Elneny should be available for Arsenal after recovering from ankle injury.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs are fitness doubts and the English duo will be assessed.
West Brom have gone off the boil in recent weeks and a game against Arsenal could be just what they need to get back to winning ways. Arsenal will be just as determined to claim an away victory. Defeat would make their battle for the top four even more difficult. With this in mind, my prediction is West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Arsenal.
