Middlesbrough are yet to win a Premier League game in 2017 and have claimed victory in just four of their 31 league matches this season. Boro are running out of games to get themselves out of the relegation zone and their lack of goals (22 in 31 games) will prove costly.
Arsenal are currently 7th with one win from their last five league games. The Gunners are currently 10 points behind 4th placed Manchester City with a top four finish almost certainly out of reach.
Steve Agnew has said that Middlesbrough have a fully fit squad who are “chomping at the bit” to play. Captain George Friend returns from a calf injury. Another player returning from injury is Gaston Ramirez who is available after an ankle knock. Calum Chambers is the only absentee because he is ineligible to face his parent club.
Arsene Wenger is hopeful that captain Laurent Koscielny and Petr Cech will return to the squad for this fixture. Lucas Perez and David Ospina are still not ready to return.
There is no pressure on Arsenal and that is usually when they play their best football. Middlesbrough just don’t score enough goals and although they will try their best, it is highly unlikely that they will triumph against Arsenal. My prediction is Middlesbrough 0-3 Arsenal.
