Arsenal seemed to be back on track after two consecutive wins against Middlesbrough and Leicester City. However their inconsistent form, which has been an issue all season, returned against their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur when they lost 2-0 thanks to two goals in three minutes.
Manchester United have not lost a league match since October. The problem is that they have been unable to turn draws into wins and this has proved costly. The Reds have won three of their last five league games with the last two ending all square. They are currently 5th, just one point behind rivals Manchester City.
Granit Xhaka is unlikely to be available for selection after suffering a kick to the calf last weekend. Shkodran Mustafi and David Ospina are back in training following thigh and back problems respectively.
Ashley Young was forced off with a muscle injury against Celta Vigo and is a doubt for the Arsenal game.
Marouane Fellaini is still serving a ban and therefore unavailable. Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are all out injured.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he will rest players for this match while he concentrates on the Europa League instead. Arsenal need to bounce back from their most recent defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur. My prediction is Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United.
