Vanarama National League South side Oxford City have announced a double signing ahead of the new season.
City finished their National League South campaign in a comfortable 15th place, rarely facing any relegation worries but never looking likely for a push for the play-offs.
Bennett, a former Gosport Borough striker, makes the move to Oxford having previously played for Salisbury City in the Southern League South & West.
The experienced striker proved his ability to score goals at the second tier of Non League football when playing for Gosport Borough, and the talisman will now be looking to get the ball rolling with his new club.
Speaking in a statement on his Twitter account, Bennett said: “I am afraid to announce I won’t be a Salisbury FC player next season. I have agreed a deal with Oxford City in the National League South.
“Whilst Steve [Claridge] made me a reasonable offer to stay, it was still short of my deal last year. Despite that, it was the opportunity to play in the National League South that I couldn’t turn down in the end, it will probably be my last chance to play at that level.
“The decision was not easy, I mulled it over for days as last season was one of the most enjoyable seasons I’ve had.
“I hope this isn’t the end and wish all at SFC good luck in the 2017/18 season.”
Also making a move to Marsh Lane was former Aldershot Town defender Joe Oastler.
The 26-year-old made the switch to Oxfordshire from relegated Gosport Borough but joins Jones’ squad with a wealth of experience, having featured for Queens Park Rangers, Torquay United and Aldershot Town before moving to Gosport’s Privett Park.
