With the season over. Newcastle’s stars have been featuring for the national sides. Here’s an update on how they’re getting on.
Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong – England Under 20’s
Here is one which you may have heard about. Woodman and Armstrong have been participating in the Under 20’s World Cup in South Korea.
Both have featured extensively in the tournament. With Woodman playing a key part in the run to the final.
However, the best was saved for the final for the young United stopper. A penalty save by Woodman assuring the World Cup was won by England.
Woodman further won the golden glove in a remarkable tournament for the youngster. As England won their first World Cup since the famous 1966 triumph.
Aleksandar Mitrovic – Serbia
Mitrovic continued his fantastic international form for Serbia. Netting once again against Chris Coleman’s Wales.
The Serbian has struck five in his last four at International level. Raising the question of why he can’t do it consistently for United.
Furthermore, this is Mitro’s second strike against Wales. Netting from close range to equalise for Serbia in a game which finished 1-1.
Daryl Murphy – Ireland
Prior to Ireland’s game against Austria, Murphy admitted his United career could be drawing to a close with a move looking likely.
Murphy would then go onto featured for Ireland. Proving himself to be a problem for Austria. However, the Republic could only manage a draw.
Jon Walters equalising late on with Ireland feeling aggrieved for have a potential winner ruled out.
Chancel Mbemba – DR Congo
Mbemba featured and scored in DR Congo’s win over rivals Congo Brazzaville.
The centre-back scored the third in a 3-1 win. Dedicating the goal to the recently deceased Cheick Tiote.
Mbemba powering in from close range to put the icing on the cake.
There will be potential appearances later in the week for defender Deandre Yedlin. As he continues for the USA.
