Newcastle: Match Ratings vs Brighton

It’s It was disappointment for Newcastle at the Amex on Sunday. A goal from a free kick stopping United from getting anything from the game. So how did United do?

Rob Elliot 7

Despite conceding in the game. Elliot was excellent in the game. Making various important saves to keep United in the game. The most stunning with his outstretched foot to keep the game 1-0. Another good outing for United.

Deandre Yedlin 5

A very average day for Yedlin who could have done more. United had problems defending the wings and Yedlin was found lacking.

Jamal Lascelles 6

Lascelles didn’t score for the third game in a row. However, Lascelles put in a solid performance. Along with Clark he would feel very unlucky to not get into the team next week.

Ciaran Clark 6

Clark along with Lascelles put in a solid performance. Giving it his all despite coming up short in the game.

Chancel Mbemba 6

Mbemba once again out of position and once again put in a good performance. Mbemba looks comfortable going forward and on the ball. A great performance.

Issac Hayden 4

Hayden wasn’t at the races today. He looked completely out of his depth. When he was replaced by Shelvey Uniteds play improved. Issac Hayden might not start against Liverpool because of this. However, it isn’t over for Hayden.

Mikel Merino 7

What can you say about Merino. He is perhaps the best player to play for Newcastle since Cabaye. Confident on the ball and an amazing passer. The Spaniard continues to impress. We will see next week just how good he is.

Christian Atsu 6

Christian Atsu started the game well however he faded as it went on. A game of two halves however United will want slightly more from the Ghana international.

Matt Ritchie 7

Matt Ritchie was once again excellent. Ritchie runs the show for Newcastle and is constantly involved in the action for Newcastle. Hopefully he will continue this next week.

Ayoze Perez 3

Perez was disappointing against Brighton. Failing to make the impact he did in Feburary. Perez constantly lost the ball throughout the game as Brighton targeted him. Questions must be asked about his starting spot.

Joselu 5

Joselu wasn’t bad however missed the best chance of the game. Joselu must take his chances he could have had four goals in his last two games.

Jonjo Shelvey 7

Dwight Gayle 6

Jesus Gamez 6
