Kostas Manolas has sent out a clear ‘come and get me plea’ to potential suitors Notably, both Chelsea and Arsenal by insisting a £26m buy-out clause is inserted into his new contract.
The Roma man’s contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2019 but the Italian outfit, who have finished runners-up in three of the last four Serie A campaign,s are desperate to tie him down to a new deal to ward off any fresh bids, according to Corriere dello Sport
Manolas looked set to end his three-year stay in Italy in June to join Zenit in but the deal broke down at the last minute reportedly due to a wage dispute between Euros and Rubles. It was rumoured Chelsea were set to hijack the deal but in the end opted for Roma teammate Antonio Rüdiger.
However, the Blues remain interested in the Greek international, who has 31 caps to his name, as do Zenit. Clearly, Manolas is looking to keep his options open and this may also prompt long-time admirers Arsenal to enter the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.
