In terms of goalscoring consistency, spectacular strikes, and skilful runs, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better player in the football league at the moment than Bristol Rovers wide man Billy Bodin.

over the last 2 seasons, the Welsh wing wizard has scored an impressive 31 goals in 83 league appearances for ‘The Gas’ and here I will be looking at 7 of the very best, from mazy runs and spectacular free-kicks to long range howitzers, Bodin really does have a bit of everything in his locker, Have a look at the best of the bunch down below.

Vs Newport (24th October 2015)

The earliest of Bodin’s spectacular goals came in late October of 2015 as Rovers hosted Newport County at The Memorial Stadium, A moment of sheer brilliance occurred as the right winger hit a headed pass on the volley and the unfortunate Newport goalkeeper was left clawing helplessly at the air.

Vs Dagenham (7th May 2016)

One attribute of a top class forward player is scoring vital goals in vital games, and with Rovers 1-0 down and promotion on the line, Bodin shimmied past a number of Dagenham defenders effortlessly before burying a low finish into the goal, equalising and paving the way for Lee Brown’s iconic 92nd minute winner. Remarkable.

Vs Coventry (26th December 2016)

The Rovers number 10 has made it somewhat of a trademark cutting in from the wing and netting long range strikes, so it came as a late Christmas present for Gasheads on Boxing Day 2016 when our danger man hit a 25 yard thunderbolt into the far left of the Blackthorn End goal, setting us on our way to a comfortable 4-1 victory.

Vs Northampton (7th January 2017)

4 goals from Ellis Harrison rightfully grabbed the headlines in this 5-0 trouncing, but Billy was on hand to provide some magic of his own, after a feinted shot leaving a Northampton player scrambling for the ball, Bodin unleashed an unstoppable effort from just outside the box perfectly into the top right corner.

Vs Shrewsbury (1st April 2017)

In a forgettable 2-0 win at The Mem, This sublime effort remains one of Bodin’s best goals for sheer trickery and audaciousness, a lucky deflected touch off of a Shrewsbury defender left the winger with his back to goal but with the simplest of movements, Bodin dribbles between the two opposition players to curl his strike into the net.

Vs Millwall (30th April 2017)

In a thrill-a-minute final day showdown at The Memorial Stadium, Millwall required a win to secure a place in the play-offs, and clearly with other plans, Rovers prized asset stepped up to this dead-ball situation with just one thing on his mind, top bins.

Vs Fleetwood (26th August 2017)

The latest in Bodin’s back-catalogue of long range stunners came as early as last month, a clever cut-back from Rory Gaffney and one touch is all it took for The Welshman to send the home crowd into a frenzy of applause. More of the same please Billy!
