Leatherhead are one win away from putting themselves in the draw for the FA Cup first round. On Saturday, the Tanners travel away to League rivals, Margate.

To reach this stage of the competition, Leatherhead defeated Cray Valley 6-0, Ware FC 5-2 and Ashford Town FC 2-1. Margate defeated East Grinstead Town 3-1, Kings Langley 1-0 and Herne Bay 2-0.

It will be a highly anticipated tie with only goal difference separating the two teams in the League. Both teams find themselves on 16 points after 10 games, but Margate have a better goal difference by six goals.

In the last five meetings, both teams have won on two occasions as well as one draw. The latest result came only two weeks ago when Margate travelled to Fetcham Grove and won 2-0. Both teams looked threatening on the attack, but Leatherhead didn’t quite get the luck they perhaps deserved.

Player/manager Sammy Moore acknowledges that it will be a tough game on Saturday but still fancies Tanners’ chances of putting themselves in the first round of the FA Cup.

“It’s going to be difficult as it’s on 3G which gives them a slight advantage, but once again the FA Cup’s the FA Cup. There are upsets to be made.”

Sammy also stated that we don’t necessarily have to go for the attack and leaves gaps in defence.

“We will have a game plan and we don’t necessarily have to go and win the game, we can bring them back to the Grove.”

In the 2-0 defeat, Leatherhead were without Moore and Nnamani, but on this occasion, most of the players are fit and healthy and will be available to play. The only players that won’t be playing are Germaine Dua, Reece Williams-Bowers and new signing Tom Beere who are all cup tied.

Coach tickets are selling fast so if you haven’t yet booked a seat, we recommend you do so as soon as possible. The prices are £10 for adults and £5 for children. The bus will be leaving Fetcham Grove at 10:30am on the Saturday, and the bar will be open from 9:30am.

Ticket prices for the game are £10 for an adult, £8 for a concession, £5 for children aged between 11-17 and under 11s are free.
