Charlton will look to continue their impressive run of form this Saturday at home to lowly Wimbledon.
It’s been a magnificent run of form for this weekends hosts, which started a month ago after a draw against Bury. Charlton got a fantastic win last week, away at third placed Bradford by a goal to nil. Before that, the Addicks gained a solid point away at Oxford after two wins prior to that against Doncaster and Fleetwood. It’s 10 points out of a possible 12 for The Reds with just one conceded in their last three. The impressive form means that Charlton have risen to fourth in the League One table, behind Bradford on goals scored with a game in hand over most teams around them.
Wimbledon were also on good form before Saturday. They won by a goal to nil away at fellow strugglers Northampton before a fantastic 3-1 win against promotion hopefuls Rotherham. However, at home to bottom of the league Plymouth last weekend, they fell to a very disappointing defeat. It was just Plymouth’s second win all season and put a halt to Wimbledon’s momentum. They now sit just one place above the relegation zone with 15 points in 15 games.
At the time of writing, there is no fresh injury news for Charlton. Jason Pearce is in the middle of his 10 week injury, meaning there is no chance of him returning anytime soon. Mark Marshall will most likely return on the bench for The Addicks after a lengthy spell out.
As for Wimbledon, manager Neal Ardley said in an interview this week forward Harry Forrester is an injury doubt. He picked up a groin injury during training meaning he is unlikely to feature.
Despite Wimbledon’s good form over the last three games it’s very hard to see past a Charlton win. The Reds are on better form, are much higher up the table and are at home. The Addicks have won 4, drawn 1 and lost 1 at home so far this season, suggesting they are strong at home. Wimbledon meanwhile have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 4 on the road.
Prediction: Charlton 2-0 AFC Wimbledon
