This weekend is a massive one for some Non League Clubs – the first round of the FA Cup.

For some it is looking ahead to one of the clubs biggest matches in history. The possibility of causing an upset in front of a massive crowd or a great stadium. Here’s some Non League clubs who could cause an upset.

Truro City

Charlton v Truro– Truro currently sit 6th in the National League South and will travel to a side three leagues above them. Charlton are currently one of the highest ranked teams in the competition at this stage. It will played in a 27,000 seated stadium, something most non league teams would ever come up against. It will be one of Truro’s biggest games ever, especially coming up against one of the biggest teams in the competition at this stage. However Charlton are on fantastic form at the moment. They have two Checkatrade trophy games either side of the FA Cup match meaning it might be a strong team named from Charlton. This would give Truro an extremely tough task.

Likelihood of an upset- Very unlikely

Prediction- Charlton 3-0 Truro

Hyde United

Hyde United v MK Dons- Hyde currently play in the Evo stik Northern League and they host League One MK Dons. The hosts sit 4th with games in hand are currently unbeaten while MK Dons are 16th and on poor for. It may be a strong team from MK with a Checkatrade trophy game after it however Hyde certainly have a chance based on both teams’s form. The match will be on BBC, making it Hyde’s biggest game ever. The Hosts will be expecting it’s biggest crowd ever too. It certainly won’t be easy for MK Dons with Hyde doing so well this season but I think with MK Dons being in such a higher division, the difference in quality will be too much.

Likelihood of an upset- Unlikely

Prediction- Hyde 1-2 MK Dons

Ebbsfleet United

Ebbsfleet United v Doncaster- After promotion to the National League last season, Ebbsfleet have got off to a solid start. They sit 12th with just 3 defeats from their first 18 games. Doncaster in League One sit 18th after an okay start after their promotion. In terms of form, for Doncaster it has been very mixed, winning 3 and losing 2 of their last 5, while for Ebbsfleet it is 2 wins a draw and 2 losses. Ebbsfleet are the draw specialists of the National League and being at home I think they might get another.

Likelihood of an upset- Possible

Prediction- Ebbsfleet 1-1 Doncaster

Nantwich Town

Stevenage v Nantwich– Nantwich currently play in the Evo Stik Northern League and after a bad start sit in the relegation zone. They travel to Stevenage who after a poor run of form sit mid table. You could argue the cup run has distracted them from the league but being away and their recent run means an upset looks unlikely. Despite Stevenage being on poor form too.

Likelihood of an upset- Unlikely

Prediction- Stevange 2-0 Nantwich

Dartford

Dartford v Swindon– Dartford currently sit top of the National League South and will take on 5th in league Two. Both sides are on identical form, winning three and losing 2 of their last 5. Both sides’s main focus of the season will be winning promotion and would probably be one of  the favorites in their own division to achieve that. With this in mind, Swindon may play a weaker team but Dartford based on their previous lineups in the FA Cup will stick with their strongest.

Likelihood of an upset- Possible

Prediction- Dartford 1-1 Swindon
