Last night Newcastle were hammered 4-1 Manchester United.
Manchester United almost scored 7 minutes in when the ball was put across to Lukaku but he luckily skied it. Under 10 minutes later, Newcastle were 1-0 up and in dreamland. Yedlin paced down the wing and stuck a low cross into the box and Gayle slotted the ball past De Gea. A goal with shades of his last season form. Newcastle got another great chance when Shelvey split the defence open but Jacob Murphy screwed his shot wide. The away side’s dreams were shattered when Pogba floated a ball into the box and Martial headed it in. Man Utd should feel hard done by when Lukaku was brought down by Clark in the area. The home side then struck again before half time when Smalling headed in. Newcastle had a great chance when Murphy went one on one but struck right at De Gea.
Man Utd got off to a flyer when Pogba scored a tap in from close range. Murphy gave De Gea a scare when his shot from long range almost got lucky. But then it was all over when Lukaku sealed the match with a finish from close range.
To be fair to Newcastle, they came to Old Trafford to try and get something from the match. Many sides would’ve just sat back rolled over. For the first 30 minutes, Newcastle had Manchester United all over the place. Unfortunately, the quality of Manchester United just outshone Newcastle which was to be expected. The 4-4-2 system looks a lot better than the previous system as it suits the players better.
Jacob Murphy put in a decent shift and some good runs; however, his end product is still questionable. Yet again, Shelvey was a great creative outlet with some top quality passes.
