Charlton will look to go back up to 4th in League One when they host Peterborough on Tuesday Evening.
It is both sides’ games in hand after the original match earlier on this year was postponed. Peterborough can move up to 7th in the league, just outside the playoffs with a win, while Charlton can jump off to 4th.
Charlton’s nine match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe. The run contained six wins and three draws before two Josh Morris wonder strikes meant Charlton lost for the first time in nine matches.
Peterborough’s form hasn’t been so great. The Posh have won just one of their last four league games. On Saturday they also fell to a 2-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Rochdale. Before that, they impressively beat playoff hopefuls Portsmouth but lost to Blackpool and drew with Wimbledon.
Charlton have a bit of an injury crisis at the moment. Jason Pearce, Harry Lennon, Ben Reeves, Billy Clarke, Tariqe Fosu and Harry Lennon are currently ruled out through injuries and won’t return for Tuesday nights clash. None of these players are returning for the game meaning it could be an unchanged lineup for Charlton. However, Robinson may opt for Ahearne-Grant or Aribo over Dasilva in midfield.
As for Peterborough, Gwion Edwards returns to the side after suspension but Liam Shepherd and Junior Morias are still injured and unavailable. However, McCann confirmed he may shake up the team with several players struggling with niggly injuries.
Both sides go into the game off of a disappointing 2-0 loss on Saturday and will be keen to turn it around. It is a big chance for Peterborough to close the gap on the playoffs which will certainly be their target. With a lot of injuries for Charlton and the return of a crucial player in Gwion Edwards for Peterborough, I think this may end all square.
Prediction: Charlton 1-1 Peterborough
