Bristol City host Fulham in the midweek match, both will be looking to pick up maximum points in their bid to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Form and League Table

The hosts are in poor form of late with their last two matches resulting in draws from winning positions, City threw away a three-goal lead to draw with Championship strugglers Sunderland 3-3. In the recent televised match away to Leeds United they again let their 2-0 lead slip late on to finish the match 2-2.

Slaviša Jokanović’s Fulham are in fine form going into the match, Saturday’s impressive 2-0 home win against promotion hopefuls Aston Villa will only add to the occasion. They are also unbeaten in 11 games and with creative contribution from players such as Tom Cairney will only aid their chances.

Both teams occupy the lower playoff places with Fulham narrowly in front of Bristol City.

Thoughts on the Match

I think this is a match that will be full of end to end football, both teams are fighting for promotion and will not be looking to drop points. Bristol City are at home and can really thrive in these type of matches, their atmosphere can also add to the occasion as the world has seen with the League Cup scalping of Manchester United.

I feel Fulham will come out on top purely down to their away form, with it being the second best in the whole of English football this season; behind Manchester City. This combined with Bristol City’s recent dip in form and the ability not to see out a game from a winning position will ensure Fulham the win.

Both teams will score as both teams have players in and amongst the top ten goalscorers of this campaigns Championship season. Bristol City’s academy graduate Bobby Reid finding his form, 13 goals for him. Fulham’s academy graduate Ryan Sessegnon shortly behind in the standings with 12 goals to his name.

I can see a close game but Fulham to run out 2-1 victors and pile more misery onto Lee Johnson and his promotion chasing team.
