Speculation

Premier League keeper fuels La Lige move talk

Current Chelsea and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admitted his agent will “listen” to offers from Real Madrid as he’d rather not be drawn into conversations on his future.

The hierarchy at Stamford Bridge have been working tirelessly to entice Courtois to sign a new deal, with Eden Hazard doing likewise.

Both stalwarts are coming to the end of their current contracts with the former Atletico Madrid star heading into the final 18 months of his current deal.

Could this season be the last at Stamford Bridge for the Belgian?

Following the round of 16 first leg home draw against Barcelona, the 25-year-old attempted to quash speculation of him being linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

He voiced “I am not clear about my future”, “What I said That my heart was in Madrid was misunderstood”.

“I have two children in Spain, in Madrid, and that’s not easy. I have one year left [here] and I’m happy and talking to Chelsea”.

“They have bet on me from the first moment and that is not forgotten. I do not think Florentino Perez calls me, he will call my agent, and he will listen to him”.

Chelsea looked to gain an improbable win over the La Liga league leaders following a second-half goal from Willian, that was until Lionel Messi took advantage of a defensive error to equalise late on.

Willian scores the opening goal for his side against Barcelona

Antonio Conte was pleased with his side performance and is confident ahead of the second leg away.

“I think we were close to playing the perfect performance”. “We did one mistake but we know very well against these opponents and players like Messi, Iniesta, and Suarez, if you make a mistake, you pay”.

“Its is a pity and we are disappointed with the final result. I think we played a really good game and I must be pleased because my players gave a great effort and they followed the plan we prepared”.

“In Barcelona, we must be prepared to suffer together but at the same time, when we suffer, we must continue to try to get the chances to score”.
