Manchester United will battle to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure, along with big six rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure is on Manchester United’s summer wishlist, according to the Mirror. The 25-year-old central midfielder has been in excellent form for Watford this season, making 30 appearances and scoring seven goals. He is currently the club’s top scorer.
Doucoure joined the Hornets in 2016, signing a four-and-a-half year deal before joining Granada on a six-month loan move. He has gone from strength to strength after finding his rhythm at Watford which has attracted the interest of big six clubs.
Man United boss Jose Mourinho sent scouts to watch Doucoure in action against West Brom at Vicarage Road on Saturday as he looks to strengthen his midfield for next season.
Mourinho is planning a summer overhaul of his midfield and wants at least two new additions. Michael Carrick is retiring at the end of the season and will join United’s coaching staff. Marouane Fellaini is also expected to leave as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season.
When asked about his future recently, Doucoure said: “We’ll see what the state of play is in the summer and then we can ask questions.” With several clubs interested, Doucoure could find himself with a big decision to make at the end of the season.
