Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking at the possibility of swooping in for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Ramsey has a season left on his current deal with the Gunners and Mourinho is said to be an admirer of the Welshman.
Paul Pogba has struggled to give grounds for his starting place and his manager has privately claimed that he and new signing Alexis Sanchez are “killing the team” – a statement which had rung alarm bells at Old Trafford and the boss is planning to make summer changes.
The Portuguese is understood to look at Ramsey’s all-action box-to-box style – something which has potential to give his struggling side a lift.
Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on the 27-year-old.
It was disclosed that the situation with his contract wasn’t of prime concern, as discussions were being held with Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere.
The three-time FA Cup winner has been with Arsenal for 10 years, but has been fluctuating in Arsene Wenger’s pecking order, and is deciding whether it’ll be the best to move on.
Pogba could also find himself in a precarious situation in the summer.
Talking on Monday, France manager Didier Deschamps voiced that Pogba’s lack of action of recent must be inside the head of him [Pogba].
Deschamps – who called up the central midfielder for friendlies against Colombia and Russia had this to vocalise: “This is a situation that he must not appreciate because of everything he would have been able to offer”
“There must be numerous reasons. He cannot be happy with what he is going through with his club.”
Contrary to his manager’s words, does Paul Pogba look happy at Old Trafford? Time will tell…
The FA Cup semi-finalists have also activated a one-year protraction of Ashley Young’s contract.
Young is now pledged to the club until the conclusion of next season.
The form of Young has seen him merit a recall with England, with Gareth Southgate choosing him for friendlies against Netherlands and Italy.
Unfortunately, though, there seems to be very little way back for Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw.
It was revealed by Starsport on Monday that Shaw’s time at Manchester United is all but set to come to an end, after being substituted during the FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion before Mourinho laid into him by saying he fails to follows basic instructions.
But with claims of a training ground disagreement, a source close to Shaw remarked: “Mourinho’s treatment of Luke is an absolute disgrace.”
“If he has a problem with him, the decent thing to do would be to keep it in-house.”
“If this kind of abuse happened in any other workplace, there would be a case for constructive dismissal. It’s disgusting.”
“A few weeks ago, Mourinho was praising him, now he can’t do anything right.”
“Luke’s a strong lad and he won’t let Mourinho ruin his life. He’ll consider his future in the summer and is still determined to be part of the England squad heading for Russia.
