With the transfer window opening in the Summer, managers will be hard at work to bid for signatures of targeted players. This week sees West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini being linked with a move to Anfield.
According to the Mirror, Lanzini has attracted interest from Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to end the search for a replacement for Barcelona signing Philippe Coutinho.
Following the sale of Coutinho to the La Liga giants, Klopp opted to wait until the Summer to search for targets after not being able to find a potential suitor earlier this year.
The German boss is pursuing with his transfer business, and claims from the Mirror state that the Merseyside club have an interest in Lanzini which has been long-standing.
In recent weeks, the Champions League finalists have also been strongly linked with a move for Lyon forward (can also play at midfield) Nabil Fekir, but the outlet has reported that the West Ham player is also an option as a move for the Argentina international is lined up.
Lanzini initially signed for West Ham in the Summer of 2015 on loan from UAE Arabian Gulf League outfit Al Jazira Club, and impressed to the point of signing a permanent deal with the Hammers the year after.
The attacker proved why he was good buy by bagging five goals, and six assists last season in order to keep his side in the top division for another season, and repeat performances could see him earn a move to the five-time European champions.
Predominantly, he’s an attacking central midfielder, but akin to Coutinho, he’s able to play from the left, so if he does sign, that’ll leave Klopp with plenty of options!
Despite having one of the best attacking players in Europe, Liverpool needs depth among the likes of Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah behind them if they’re to challenge on multiple fronts next season, and Lanzini could be the player to foot the bill.
