West Ham on the verge of breaking transfer record to sign Lazio star

West Ham United are close to breaking their transfer record as they look to sign Lazio winger Felipe Anderson.

The Hammers have been negotiating with Serie A side Lazio over the transfer of Felipe Anderson and the deal is now nearing completion, according to reports in Italy.

Should West Ham sign Anderson, as expected, it would be for around £38m which would greatly exceed their current transfer record of £20m they paid to sign Marko Arnautovic from Stoke last summer.

Anderson has impressed at Lazio in recent seasons and Manchester United and Chelsea have both kept an eye on him.

The Brazilian winger scored four goals and provided seven assists in 21 Serie A appearances last season. He also scored three Europa League goals for Lazio.

Anderson would become West Ham’s fifth summer signing since Manuel Pellegrini took over from David Moyes as manager. Ryan Fredricks was signed on a free transfer from newly promoted Fulham.

As speculations arise so do online bookies jump in to suggest their most competitive odds to fans and punters. Anderson’s potential move to the London stadium is high at chance with odds of 5/2 to complete the transfer. The odds (via thebookiesoffers.co.uk) are stacked in the favour of a deal happening.

Lukasz Fabianski joined from relegated Swansea City and Issa Diop signed from Toulouse. On Monday, the Hammers signed Jack Wilshere on a free transfer from Arsenal.

The clubs are likely to reach an agreement for the 25-year-old winger in the coming days. As Pellegrini continues his squad overhaul, Anderson could turn out to be an excellent addition.
