In a deal which could cost a totalled £88m, Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the double transfer of both Gonzalo Higuain, and Daniele Rugani.
Following lengthy speculation over former manager Antonio Conte, the 2016-17 Premier League winners hired Maurizio Sarri to finally end the debacle.
Chelsea are finally starting to show promise in the window, with the signature of Jorginho from Napoli.
There could be further top names on the way as reports from Evening Standard suggest talks over a move for Gonzalo Higuain will be had, with the club also nearing a move for Daniele Rugani as well.
Both have been strongly connected with Chelsea of recent, with claims from Premium Sport stating that Rugani was on his way to Stamford Bridge for around £35m.
Standard suggested that Higuain would cost £53m, which is a summed up £88m for top player from Juventus, and plays well into the Torino sides hands too given that funds would have to be raised following the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The arrival of the Portugal international would ultimately spell trouble for Higuain, as it would leave Massimiliano Allegri, with a dilemma, but with the Argentine seemingly on his way out, that’s certainly good news for Chelsea!
Higuain would be a major upgrade on Alvaro Morata who has struggled in his first season.
The ex-Napoli man has 282 club goals to his name, which includes 31 in 75 appearances for his national side, and those statistics tells that he’ll surely help Chelsea contend for the title (should he settle in well) after finishing a disappointing fifth-place finish last season.
Meanwhile, Rugani looks to be a potential addition in defence to fill in long-term for both Gary Cahill, and David Luiz who are both off-form. Despite the formers good form at the World Cup, he has somewhat struggled in the league, and isn’t getting any younger, and that’s also the case for Luiz.
