Former Bristol Rovers striker, Matty Taylor has been in the spotlight recently after becoming only the second player to move from Rovers to Championship side and rivals, Bristol City since 1987. http://gty.im/633199182 The uproar began on deadline day when Bristol City signed Bristol Rovers’ top goalscorer, Matty Taylor, for just £300,000. Once reality dawned, the reactions from the Bristol Rovers fans came as somewhat of a comedic act for the City. Some still did not believe that the signing was 100% true and continued to hope that it was just a hoax. Towards the summer transfer window back in 2016,  Taylor…

In a fiercely contested West Country Derby between Rovers and Swindon, a 29th-minute worldie from the magician that is Billy Bodin against his former club was the difference and gave Rovers their 5th home win in a row. Darrell Clarke made two changes to the side that lost 3-1 at Walsall last week, with Ellis Harrison replacing Rory Gaffney and Ryan Sweeney in for James Clarke to make his Rovers debut. Rovers dominated the first half, with Sweeney having a header cleared off the line and Bodin having a shot saved from point blank range. Just before the half-hour mark,…

Bristol Rovers face Swindon Town at the Memorial Stadium this Saturday. Their last match was at the County Ground, back in September, where Jermaine Easter’s pass to Ellis Harrison was accidentally blocked by Swindon Town defender, Rossi Branco, which put the Pirates 2-1 up in the 84th minute, two minutes after Matty Taylor’s penalty. http://gty.im/631159560 Form: Bristol Rovers have won just two of their previous five fixtures and are currently 10th in the league. However, Swindon Town are in worse form and have only won one of their last five games; a 2-1 win against Bolton Wonderers and currently sit…

Bristol Rovers have made their second signing of the week in the form of Stoke City defender, Ryan Sweeney on loan until the end of the season. The 19-year-old defender began his football career at the age of 8 playing for AFC Wimbledon. However, it wasn’t until 10 years later in 2015 when Sweeney signed his first professional contract with the team. He made 13 appearances in total and was named man of the match in their 0-0 draw against Oxford United and was praised by club manager, Neil Ardley for his effort against Luton Town. He attracted interest from Premier League…
