2014/2015 Season – 8th
2015/2016 Prediction – 7th
Key Player – Nolito
Following the departure of Luis Enrique to Barcelona, many were skeptical about Celta Vigo last season. However, Celta Vigo proved there was life after Luis Enrique as his successor Eduardo Berizzo guided them to eighth – their best placing in La Liga since 2005-06. The Spanish side played some nice, productive football under manager Eduardo Berizzo which resulted in a team high of an 8th placed finish.
Next season, the team will be able to attract bigger stars to the club as they look to make a push for Europe. However, the manager has admitted that they are powerless to stop superstar midfielder Nolito from leaving the club. A huge loss, however they have recently confirmed the signing of former Manchester City striker, John Gudietti. Although unproven, the youngster is highly rated and could prove his worth with a good striking performance up front for Celta Vigo. Although Nolito is likely to leave, Guidietti and other recruits will have the chance to form a ‘new blood’ team capable of pushing for Europe. Things are looking bright for the Sky Blues, I predict they will 1 up on their place again with a 7th place finish in La Liga this year.
