Sheffield Wednesday have today announced the signing of winger Aiden McGeady from Everton on a season-long loan.
Since his move from Spartak Moscow in 2014, the Republic of Ireland international has found his game time limited at Goodison park; making only 35 appearances in all competitions.
As Everton have the likes of: Aaron Lennon, Kevin Mirallas, Gerard Deulofeu and co to fill in those side positions, the chances of McGeady being inserted into the first team are slim.
With McGeady desperate to find first team football and cement his challenge for a place in Martin O’Neill’s Euro 2016 squad, the 29-year-old has been eager to get away from the Merseyside club-and Championship giants Sheffield Wednesday have offered him that opportunity with a loan deal.
The Irishman will join up with his new teammates on Tuesday and is expected to be in the squad for Saturday’s trip to fellow play-off contenders Birmingham City.
