How Stephen Warnock will have an influence in Wigan’s relegation battle?

Former Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Derby County and current Wigan Athletic defender Stephen Warnock, will have a massive influence for the rest of the season. The former England international is one of the most experienced players in the squad.

Stephen was a massive influence last season when we won the League One title and he is proving his importance yet again this year. The Latics captain is going to be the key to Wigan staying up this season. Obviously a captain is always important to the team and how the team are doing and I think Stephen Warnock especially will be important to our side.

He has been important this year in games like Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he has fought right to the end to help us win these crucial matches. The Reading game is an example of where the team fell apart after going 0-2 down after 5 minutes and Stephen Warnock was still putting in fight and commitment.

Stephen Warnock is a real fan favourite and you can see that on Social Media when he interacts with Latics fans. Warnock has helped Latics get 6 clean sheets so far this season. With Stephen being 35, he is coming near to the end of his career but he’s still got the enthusiasm, fight and desire to keep The Tics where they belong.
