Will these players be on the move in January?

The January transfer window is fast approaching and many teams will be flexing their financial muscles to secure the players that they want. Here are three players who could be moving club in January.

Morgan Schneiderlin (Manchester United)

It seems that Morgan Schneiderlin’s time at Manchester United is up. Tony Pulis admitted that West Brom have bid in the region of £15m for Schneiderlin but Everton are also interested. Everton have the advantage of Ronald Koeman, Schneiderlin’s manager when the pair were at Southampton. On the other hand, West Brom have actually made their interest public and official with a bid. Current boss Jose Mourinho is happy for Schneiderlin to leave because he is not playing regularly. But, he also mentioned that it had to be for a fee that the board would be happy with. Man United bought the French midfielder for £25m in July 2015. Schneiderlin is a fantastic player and he should be on the pitch instead of sitting on the bench week in week out, having to make do with brief substitute appearances.

Likelihood of departure: 4/5

Memphis Depay (Manchester United)

Dutch Player of the Year in 2014-15, Memphis has struggled greatly since coming to the Premier League. Just like his team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin, all of his appearances this season have come from the bench. Memphis has publicly bemoaned his lack of opportunities but has still not done enough to force himself into Mourinho’s plans. Everton manager and compatriot Ronald Koeman has publicly declared his interest in bringing Memphis to Goodison Park, although no official offer has been made. Memphis should do all he can to get the move otherwise he will be remembered as an expensive flop who couldn’t hack it in the Premier League.

Likelihood of departure: 4/5

Virgil Van Dijk (Southampton)

Since becoming a Southampton player in 2015, Van Dijk has settled in well and become a vital part of the team. His no nonsense defending and commanding presence make him a force to be reckoned with. The Dutch defender is a valued member of the team and has started all of Southampton’s games this season. He has also kept seven clean sheets. Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Van Dijk to improve their defence woes. Pep Guardiola has recently denied Man City’s interest in Van Dijk but that could just be a smokescreen. Van Dijk would be a good signing for Man City because he could help John Stones improve. Stones need someone with a bit more experience playing alongside him and City’s defence has looked very shaky this season. Van Dijk will probably remain at Southampton but if Man City do want him, money talks.

Likelihood of departure: 3/5
