Nottingham Forest: Is Evangelos Marinakis the right man for the club?

Even though Evangelos Marinakis has been accused of match fixing, bombing a referee’s bakery and a lot more. Nottingham Forest fans are one hundred percent sure this man can drive the club forward.

What can he bring to the club?

Nottingham Forest is aiming to be “The model club in England” for fan engagement, under new owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Two new initiatives will be overseen by new chairman Nicholas Randall, with Marinakis saying he is keen for supporters’ voices “to be heard”.

“Nottingham Forest’s supporters have been magnificent in a difficult season and now my management team want their voices to be heard and include their input in our decision-making,” said Marinakis.

“These forums will make that possible for the first time and in a meaningful way.”

The two schemes which Randall will be in charge of are a Nottingham Forest Youth Council and a fans’ Advisory Council.

What has he done so far?

Marinakis has already announced ten percent discounts on season tickets, for the Reds 2017-2018 campaign. The Greek said it was a reward for supporters’ “loyalty” following a difficult season for the Reds.

Mark Warburton’s side only just managed to survive on the last day of the championship, thanks to a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Since taking over the club from Fawaz Al Hasawi with joint owner Sokratis Kominakis, Marinakis has quickly set out a plan for the club – and that includes putting fans at the heart of the club!

He has also said that he would like to create a fans advisory board and a Young Supporters Council, as he believes the young fans are the future for the club.

Who has he brought in as the board of Nottingham Forest? 

In an official club statement from Nottingham Forest – he announced who would fill the club’s board.

Nicholas Randall QC – the club’s new chairman. He is best known for being a sports lawyer and was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in 2013.

Ioannis Vrentzos – CEO of Nottingham Forest, he has been Managing Director at Olympiacos (Marinakis is currently owner of Olympiacos as well as Forest) since 2010.

Samantha Gordon -Financial  Officer of the club, she spent seven years at Norwich City, including managing their transition from the Championship to the Premier League.

David Cook – He will join the club as Chief Commercial Officer. David is a sports marketing specialist with experience from Manchester City.

There have been lots of promising prospects from the new owner of Nottingham Forest. Will he be successful?
