Newcastle United are in the top four. That’s something that many fans didn’t expect to be saying after the Forest game…
However, three wins on the bounce has changed the mood around Tyneside. Positivity has returned to Newcastle.
But postivity can only carry the club so far. Consistency on the pitch needs to continue. In their last three Newcastle have fought hard.
However, the cat is out of the bag. Brighton and Chris Hughton are expecting a performance from Newcastle and will prepare for it. Furthermore, Albion will want revenge.
Newcastle’s title win hurt on the South Coast. The manner of the defeat made it even more painful. A response will be expected in front of an expectant Amex Stadium.
One man who will want to continue his excellent form is Jamal Lascelles. Two goals in four has made him United’s top scorer in the Premier League.
Continuing this and his excellent defensive work will be important for success. Him and Clark will have to stop Pascal Grob who has scored two so far Brighton.
However, Newcastle aren’t toothless themselves. With goals coming from all over the park. So far Newcastle have three goals from defence, one goal from midfield and two from the frontline.
Add in the threat of Ritchie from midfield who has the second highest assist count in the league. As well as 12 goals last season.
Whatever happens this will be a tough game for Newcastle. Trips to the South Coast are always difficult for United who hardly ever come away with three points.
In the last three attempts, Newcastle have only one win against Brighton on the South Coast. However the one win was the most recent.
The 2-1 victory earlier this year was huge for United and is the best indication of how United will do. With Benitez at the helm in that game.
However, this motivation for Brighton may win them the game.
