Manchester City fans (commonly know as “the noisy neighbours”) have the right to make all the noise they want at the moment, especially as their side has yet to drop a single away point this season (though they did drop two points at home to Everton) and continued their remarkable form with a convincing 2-0 win over the 2015-16 Premier League winners.
Having taken a seemingly unassailable lead at the top heading into the international break, they can be forgiven for taking their eye off the ball on the pitch as they turn to matters in the boardroom.
Ecstatic City fans will be pleased to learn if a recent report (from Don Balon) is anything to go by, the club could make a swoop for Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez come the January transfer window.
Mahrez played a key role in his sides unlikely title win two seasons ago, scoring 17, and making 10 assists in the process in helping his side achieve what many thought couldn’t be done, though last season, he went through a spell that saw him unable to replicate that exact form with just a paltry six goals and four assists.
Despite last season’s poor form, there have been encouraging signs which suggests that he could be back on top form with two goals and five assists in just 12 appearances thus far. Little wonder why he’s reportedly attracting interest from the 2012 & 2014 champions!
Having sung his praises, it remains to be seen whether the Premier League leader will actually make a move for him. Should they do so, It’ll be rather interesting to see what he can do!
Given his dip in form last season, we shouldn’t doubt what Mahrez is capable of, especially as he’s on the verge of recapturing the form that saw his side win the title. That could be both good, and bad for the Foxes, as the Algerian is attracting interest, but is lighting up the King Power Stadium once again.
So, what do you make of the potential signing? Starting with fans of the table toppers, what do you think he would add to the side? Leicester City fans, where do you go from here? How would you be able to replace him? Would Jamie Vardy do as well without Mahrez?
