Newcastle: Ashley once again just go

Newcastle United are 125 years old this week. However, Mike Ashley threatens once again to ruin any festive atmosphere on Tyneside.

After last month’s promising development regarding a sale of United. Mike Ashley appears once again to be attempting to making life difficult.

Despite, proclaiming that he wants to get rid of the football club. Ashley has actually increased his asking price for the club.

Forcing his price of £350 million up to £400 million.

Southampton, an established Premier League club with a fantastic youth setup cost £210 million for an 80% stake. Newcastle don’t have them types of facilities and are unstable in the league.

Furthermore when looking at the difference of the two squads. Newcastle’s only cost in total in the region of £75 million.

Compared to a Southampton’s squad who feature the likes of Virgil Van Dijk who was headhunted in the summer.

However, Mike Ashley has valued the club with almost double the price of that. Newcastle have been a Championship club twice in the past seven years.

The point must be made however that Ashley was at fault for this. However, the typical games of Mike Ashley won’t work with top financiers.

In no way does Amanda Staveley need to buy this football club. It’s almost like Mike Ashley doesn’t want rid of the football club.

But when the facts are put on paper why would he. Ashley gets free advertising from the football club and also gets huge amounts from revenue the club makes.

Despite claims of no money Ashley seems to have forgotten about the huge amounts spilling into the club through the TV deal. As well as this the huge amounts generated by the attendances.

For Mike Ashley it’s the time to go. It was in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2016. However, it’s seemingly growing even more unlikely Ashley will be leaving this year.

Hopefully 2018 will be the year. If not there will be dire consequences.
